Screening | John Carpenter's The Thing

James T. Hong

In conjunction with James T. Hong’s exhibition, Empty Gallery invites you to a special holiday screening of John Carpenter’s 1982 cult science-fiction horror classic The Thing. Carpenter’s film follows a group of scientists at a remote Antarctic research station who encounter a parasitic alien organism – the titular “Thing” – which can imitate and assimilate other species. After the conclusion of the screening, Hong will address Carpenter’s film in relation to his own exhibition, recent events in Hong Kong, and the structure of the contemporary art world.

Screening will start promptly at 7PM. The film is 1 hour and 49 minutes long and will be screened with original English dialogue and traditional Chinese subtitles.
